After audiences’ total rejection for a big film such as Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’, all eyes are on Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar’s social satire ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ that is all set to hit the screens tomorrow. The film is Khiladi Kumar’s second release in this year after ‘Jolly LLB 2’ that went to be a Box Office success. Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), popularly known as Censor Board has approved ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ with 3 verbal cuts and given U/A certificate.

Akshay Kumar on Wednesday refuted the media reports that claimed CBFC has given nine cuts to ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’. “I have read news that the film has got eight or nine cuts from the censor board, but this is wrong. We have got three verbal cuts in the film. I remember one of the cuts clearly… They asked us to remove the word ‘haraami’ and there two more verbal cuts.”, Akki clarified.

How many screens will Toilet Ek Prem Katha get? Prernaa Arora, the Chief of KriArj Entertainment and producer of the film has an answer, “We are aiming for close to 3500 screens in India.” However, we think anyway that the screen count will be around 3200 which is a good number. If the film performs well throughout the first week, more screens will be added from the next week.

Toilet Ek Prem Katha is made on a budget of approximately 67 Crore and will need 110 Crore to be called ‘Hit’. While the film’s length is 155 minutes that should allow theatre owners to add a few extra shows.


If we talk about the advance booking reports of Toilet Ek Prem Katha, it is not impressive at all. This film’s opening will be similar to Akshay Kumar’s last release ‘Jolly LLB 2’ (12.06 Crore).


Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is a satirical comedy film that promotes Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a governmental campaign to improve the sanitation conditions in India. Besides Akshay Kumar, the film stars Bhumi Pednekar as the leading lady, with Anupam Kher, and Sana Khan, Divyendu Sharma in supporting roles.
