Salman Khan returns 32.5 Crore to the distributors for Tubelight’s loss: Jab Harry Met Sejal distributors too are hoping for the same from Shah Rukh Khan!
A lot of expectations had been lingering to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s Tubelight. Unfortunately, the film underperformed at Box Office and eventually the distributors faced a great bulk of loss. The Sultan actor who was also Tubelight’s producer made his mind to be responsible and promised right away in June to compensate for a larger amount of the loss that the distributors suffered for the film.
And on Wednesday, 9th August, Salman Khan reportedly called the distributor to compensate for the losses returning approximately 32.5 Crore. Tubelight’s Maharashtra distributor Shreyans Hirawat of NH Studioz heaved a sigh of life due to this rare gesture of Salman.
“Salman Khan had promised to return his distributor’s money by the end of July. However, he was busy shooting abroad for Tiger Zinda Hai. Now that he’s back in Mumbai, he has agreed to return Rs. 32.5 crores to the distributors. This is half of the total losses suffered by distributors over Tubelight.”, a source reported.
Interestingly, the same distributor, Shreyans Hirawat has suffered losses of around Rs. 50 crores on the Shah Rukh Khan’s latest release Jab Harry Met Sejal. And needless to say, a pressure to compensate for the losses is currently buzzing around Shah Rukh. However, the saying “When misfortune rains, it really pours” goes perfectly with Shreyans Hirawat.
When a film fails at Box Office, the producer is not really bound to refund the losses the distributors suffer over it. It is much like a distributor doesn’t share his profit with the producer when the same film becomes successful. Still it will be a nice gesture of the producer if he compensates for the losses. And now it will be interesting to see whether Shah Rukh too will follow in Salman’s footsteps being a responsible producer and come forward to compensate for the huge losses.
