Seems like Rajkummar Rao’s film Newton is going to be a sleeper hit, same as his another recent release Bareilly Ki Barfi. And thanks to the film’s official entry to the Oscars that took no time to create a humongous hype. Newton showed huge growth of around 175% on Saturday after collecting 0.85 crore on the first day. Therefore the 2nd day collections jumped to 2.50 crore nett apprx. Now question is did the film hold the same momentum on Sunday too? So an analysis of Newton’s weekend Box Office performance is as follows.




Newton Sunday Occupancy Report: Bollywood Box Office Collections



Same as yesterday, Newton opened with a strong hold across all metro cities. Most noteworthy, the film with less screens outperformed both commercial films that released this weekend. While Bhoomi and Haseena Parkar did a business of almost 2.25 crore and 1.40 crore on Saturday in 1894 and 1000 screens respectively. Rajkummar’s Newton collected 2.50 crore nett yesterday in 300 screens. And since the film within its limited audience is creating riot today, a big number is coming up at the day end.



Newton 3rd Day Box Office Collection: Bollywood Movie Collections



While if we go by the early estimates, Newton 3rd day Box Office collection is heading towards 3.20 crore. However the final numbers depend on how it performs in the late night shows. And with this, Newton’s 1st weekend Box Office total goes to almost 6.55 crore.


The first three day collections of Newton are as follows.


Friday – 0.85 crore
Saturday – 2.50 crore
Sunday – 3.20 crore *
TOTAL – 6.55 crore *

Especially relevant, this is a kind of films that promises to continue a strong hold during the weekdays. However, a big deal of its fate yet as of now depends on the biggie Judwaa 2 that is releasing this Friday.
