MS Dhoni – The Untold Story is Sushant Singh Rajput’s best performance till date , Here’s why !

This Friday’s big release MS Dhoni: The Untold Story , directed by Neeraj Pandey , stars Sushant Singh Rajput . As we all know, It’s a biopic of India’s most successful ODI captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The man who won us both World Cups in 20-over format as well as the 50-over format. Now , he has retired from Test cricket, but he is still the captain of T20 and ODI teams as well as he is playing in the IPL. MS Dhoni is also the unofficial producer of this film, with his friend and business partner Arun Pandey who is the official producer here. The film also stars Kiara Advani as Dhoni’s wife and Disha Patani as Dhoni’s girlfriend . MS Dhoni: The Untold Story also stars Anupam Kher, Kumud Mishra, Bhumika Chala , Herry Tangri and Rajesh Sharma.

The film have been praised by everyone for Sushant Singh Rajput’s performance. He was really good in his last movies – Kai Po Che, Shuddh Desi Romance & Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! Be it the cricketing shots, including that famous trademark of Dhoni – that helicopter shot, or even the dramatic scenes, Sushant makes his stamp in the film as a great performer.
Here are some moments from the film, that proved he really hit the ball out of the stadium with his performance.

That Perfect Helicopter Shot !

Let’s first talk about the aspect that made ua go inside theatres – how is Sushant Singh Rajput as MS Dhoni. Well, he may not look like MS Dhoni , the Captain Cool (that competition is already won by Herry Tangri for being Yuvraj Singh), but Sushant Singh Rajput scores where it’s needed – playing Dhoni’s trademark shots, his body language and mannerisms are too similar to Dhoni’s, we give full marks to Sushant for all his efforts and training he had to undergo just to get into the skin of the character.
That breakdown scene

While the romantic portions in the film are its Achilles Heel, Sushant Singh Rajput gives a heart-rending performance in that scene when he learns of his girlfriend’s demise. Travelling in his friend’s car at that time, he doesn’t speaks for a moment, he requests his friend to let him leave the vehicle. As he stands alone there, he breaks down and sits right there in the middle of the road, not caring for the vehicles passing by. This is Sushant Singh Rajput at his best.
That practice match before the Railways job !

When he misses his flight to Kolkata, where the selections for the Duleep Trophy are being held, Dhoni is recruited as a part of the Railways. For the final nod, he had to bat against the bowling skills of his boss, AK Ganguly. He leaves the first couple of balls thrown by his senior, and remains calm when his boss taunts him. But you can’t just miss out on the smug smile on his face, as he later sends the rest of the balls out of the ground.
That match with Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh was considered as Dhoni’s biggest rival and even the contender to be the Indian captain, before Dhoni overtook him. When Dhoni first plays against Yuvraj, as Bihar takes on Punjab in a league match. Sushant perfectly shows the aggressive body language towards an opponent, he knows it is going to be a big deal one day. Check out the smirk between these two when they cross each other at the basketball court in the night.

The scene where he has a heart-to-heart chat with his boss, is one of the best scenes of the film, as well as the one where we see Dhoni  in his most emotionally defeated condition, and yet keeping his cool. Needless to say, Sushant completely nailed it!
