The trailer of Mirzya, which was released on September 1, blends amazingly Rajasthan’s folk charm with modern technology, promising us a different kind of film. “In my film, we play out the folklore, as such, so there’s one part of the story and then the folklore in a way kind of resonates and echoes and lands on today’s time… you know the essence of it. And mostly it plays out, I would say like a good 70% of it plays out now in contemporary Rajasthan with contemporary actors,” director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra told in an interview.

Though the film’s essence is Mirza-Sahiban, it’s a story of two contemporary characters – Adil and Suchi, while Mirza will be seen playing the role of a horse-rider in it. The Mirzya director further added that the three-year-old journey of making “Mirzya” became so personal to him that it felt like a rebirth to him as a director, as a person. “In my short career, ‘Mirzya’ has definitely enriched me a lot. As a storyteller, I have now come a full circle. It has added so much meaning to what I thought about love. Going through that process has been enjoyable.”

The music of Mirzya is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, while the lyrics come from legendary Gulzar’s pen. There are 15 tracks in Mirzya, including 6 short songs on the character of Mirzya composed by Daler Mehndi. Upon release, the music of Mirzya caught the immediate attention and topped the Charts.
